For Al Mazrouei, the mother (or woman) is an embodiment of universal phenomena, such as femininity - or what Carl Jung described as the Animus. Having lost that to another unexplainable phenomena that is death, Al Mazrouei’s exploration of the subjects is continuous. As seen in Untitled 56 (2012), the artist introduces fauvism and chaotic expressions, possibly to illustrate a state of anger and frustration with the issue from a personal standpoint that is reflected in visual elements in the background of the painting.
