Nafs (also read as Nafas which means the Breath) meaning the self in Arabic and Farsi, is a layered word in spiritual and gnostic studies that reflects the complexity and inner struggles of human beings. The starry sky formed by sacred geometry symbolizes the universe and the higher power which has a universality on a metaphysical and spiritual level. The repetition of the word Nafs and its movement from panel to panel is a contemplation of our inner struggle to realize our relationship and unity with God and the universe and the many chances we get to repeat the process as we are faced with God’s mercy.
